HCFA Form Alignment

If you are having problems getting items to print in the right place on the HCFA-1500 claim form, you may be able to adjust the printer codes to make it print perfectly. The following codes are located in the HCFA Form - form initialization code.

Hewlett Packard and Compatible Laser Printers


Top Margin	\027&l48d12e6D	Change the number between the "d" and the "e" (12 in the code shown) to adjust the top margin in increments of .02 inch. A larger number moves the print down.

Left Margin	\027&a5L	Change the number between the "a" and the "L" (5 in the code shown) to adjust the left margin in increments of .01 inch. A larger number moves the print to the right.

Hewlett Packard and Compatible Inkjet Printers


Top Margin	\027&l1.5E	Change the number between the "l" and the "E" (1.5 in the code shown) to adjust the left margin in increments of .16 inch (1 line). You are not limited to whole numbers as the code above shows. . A larger number moves the print down.

Left Margin	\027&a1L	Change the number between the "a" and the "L" (1 in the code shown) to adjust the left margin in increments of .1 inch. You must use whole numbers so, for finer control, insert the code for compressed print, (\027(s16.67H) just before the left margin code. Then the increment will be .06 inch. A larger number moves the print to the right.

Canon Bubble Jet Printers


Top Margin	\027J\050	These printers do not have a top margin code. Therefore the top margin needs to be adjusted for each page. The following changes should be made to the HCFA Form - top of each page code. Increase the 050 to move the print on the page down. Be careful to maintain 3 digits. The adjustment increment is about .005 inch.

Left Margin	\027X\001\080	Change the \001 in the code show is the left margin and the \080 is the right margin. You cannot set the right margin higher than 80 on normal narrow column printers. Change the 001to a higher or lower number, being careful to use 3 digits. The increment of adjustment is about .1 inch. A larger number moves the print to the right. If the margin is set too high, some characters will wrap to the next line. If the margin is set too high, some characters will wrap to the next line. Cannon BubbleJet printers are switch selectable to either Canon (IBM Proprinter compatible) mode or Epson compatible mode. If set to the Epson compatible mode, use the Left Margin command listed below for Epson and Compatible printers.

Epson and Compatible Dot-Matrix Printers


Top Margin		Adjust the paper manually

Left Margin	\027l\002	Your first choice should be to adjust the paper manually. If you cannot sufficiently adjust the left margin, use the codes shown. Change the 002 to a higher or lower number, being careful to use 3 digits. The increment of adjustment is about .06 inch. A larger number moves the print to the right. If the margin is set too high, some characters will wrap to the next line.

IBM and Compatible Dot-Matrix Printers
