I have used The Therapist since it was a DOS program, 15 years??? It has allowed me to efficiently keep track of the financial end of my practice. Through the years billing has increasingly simplified what is typically a very cumbersome part of the work, particularly if you still deal with managed care. I can easily see who I have billed, which have been paid and what is outstanding. Recently I have begun using the case management package which you offer which considerably shortens the amount of time I spend writing my session notes and organizes them to boot!!

Through the years I have found your support staff to be competent and helpful. The Tip of the Day I particularly enjoy because it reflects a commitment to a moral, centered approach to life and I assume of the company, in a very amusing fashion.

I oversee operations at a small outpatient MH treatment center. Before I came onboard the owner had an older version of The THERAPIST. As my responsibilities were varied, I never gave the software the attention it needed. Counselors here were still writing longhand and not using the application at all. Very frustrating.

As a professional New Years resolution, I committed to getting The THERAPIST properly online. I knew what I needed from the application; i.e. portability, and I consider myself an intermediate computer user; but I never got it up and running. After working with Joel through many different protocols, he got me to devise a workable system of usage that has more than met my expectations.

When my part time therapy practice turned into full time, I knew I would need something quickly to help me get organized. I needed something that was easy to understand, easy to use and cost effective. I began my search for software programs. Luckily, many companies offered the opportunity to try them out before making a decision to buy. This was extremely helpful since it provided a chance to see if the program would fit the needs of the practice. The Therapist EZ was the second program I tried. I could immediately start putting in my practice information and put the program to work. I won't try to explain what happened to Brenda's computer... To make a long story short, the technician here had to call Joel [in technical support]. When I picked up my computer from the tech here, he said it was a pleasure to work with Joel; that Joel was very helpful, very willing to work with him. The tech here said sometimes he has to contact techs that act as if they are being "put out." No so with Joel. I want to thank Joel very much for his help with my situation.

I really appreciate the staff at Beaver Creek.  Whenever I call, people have been courteous, I have gottten straight answers, but maybe the best of all everyone has a really good sense of humor.

My daughter and I are going to Europe for two weeks next month.  When I get back, I will do "catch up" and end of month billing. After that is done, I will install the upgrade.  I can't tell you what a relief it was to find out my 60 days of support don't start until my first call... you guys are the best!

I have been shopping for software for approximately 6 six months.  I have decided to do my own billing in a solo practice of counseling as an LCSW social worker.  I have no desire to type medical billing forms and need a system better than the one I am using ( Microsoft Office) to manage information and records.  I have explored at least 5 other products and downloaded several to data enter cases and prepare billing forms and statements.

I like the Beaver Creek Product for the following reasons:

I data entered case information both for billing and treatment purposes, there was a natural flow to the process that made sense in the movement from one window and its elements to the next.  I cannot exactly explain why, but I suspect that design of the program and the placement of icons were/are somehow more user friendly than other programs I tried.  When I got really serious, I printed out the manual (all 443 pages of it!!) and walked a case through the various parts of the program--starting with the provider and carrier set ups.  At the point I was ready to print a HCFA 1500, all the required data was available.  The forms printed out perfectly.  The biggest problem I had was to learn that the address to include in the carrier set up was/is the address that the claims are to be sent to, not the company home address.  I am looking forward to doing some electronic billing.  The individual memory function for cases to set up billable services was/is a major time saver.  I do Medicare billing electronically now.  I am looking forward to starting to bill Blue Cross Blue Shield and Sterling Option I electronically after this software is installed.

I data entered at lest six cases with varying kinds of family situations and billing needs (EAP companies to PPO, Medicare with supplemental insurance, etc.).  I needed tech support twice when I got completely stuck and could not figure out how to get the accounting to balance.  They were very helpful; I had some manual adjustments to make.

I have started to explore the case management functions.  I like the problems trees; they are detailed and will help me to keep focused on the business of keeping better notes.  I like that the case notes can be separate from the billing requirements---which I believe will be come more important as I understand HIPAA and confidentiality issues better.  I like the flexibility that appears to be available to tailor a record to the needs of the practice ant the therapist.

I started exploring the templates and developed some cover letters for insurance companies.  I had hoped to develop some more generic letters, but discovered that the templates are very specific to the carrier or the client.

I also like the reports capacities.  The face sheets are items I will incorporate quickly into my records. I see lots of potential in the case management reports, but have not yet explored that very far.  The statements I have printed are professional looking and should be easy for clients to read.  I also like the individual patient ledger which reflects charges and payments, but insurance write offs as well.

I have not touched on the scheduler.  It is much better than the two systems/calendars I am now trying to negotiate between the computer and a manual calendar.  I think this will work much better as it is integrated with other elements.

Finally I really enjoy the little sayings at the opening of the program.  It is important to take time to smell the flowers.

HOORAY! HOORAY! I can attest to Joel's attitude.  Working with Joel has been the best experience we have had with Beaver Creek.
